This week, we say a big well done and goodbye for now to our wonderful 6th Class pupils as they graduate from Cloonlyon NS.
We are so proud of each one of our seven graduates. Over the years, they have grown into kind, caring, and confident young people. They have been great role models for the younger classes, showing friendship, leadership, and respect every day. As they prepare to start secondary school, we know they are ready for the exciting adventures ahead. While we will miss their smiles and energy in the classrooms and on the yard, we know they will carry all they have learned at Cloonlyon with them. To our 6th Class – thank you for being such a special part of our school. Always remember: once a Cloonlyon pupil, always a part of our school family. Wishing you all the happiness, success, and friendship in the world as you begin this new chapter. Go n-éirí an bóthar libh! Yesterday was a very exciting day for all the children of Cloonlyon NS!
From Junior Infants to 6th Class, everyone set off with big smiles and great energy as we made our way to Charlestown. Our first adventure was a lovely walk along the Charlestown River Walk. It was full of fresh air, happy chatting, and beautiful sights. It was a great way to start the day together. After the walk, it was time for the big event--swimming! At Charlestown Swimming Pool, every class got a chance to jump in and enjoy the water. Some children splashed and played, some practiced their swimming skills, and everyone had a brilliant time. It was wonderful to see children of all ages having fun, helping each other, and showing great friendship in the pool. When we arrived back at school, there was a fantastic surprise waiting… an ice cream van! There were cheers and big smiles as everyone enjoyed a cool treat in the sunshine. It was the perfect way to end a special day. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so much fun. At Cloonlyon NS, we love sharing days like this—full of laughter, friendship, and happy memories for everyone. Our school was filled with music, laughter, and rhythm last week as we welcomed Zane from Music Generation Mayo for the grand finale of our music programme!
Zane has been visiting us throughout the year, bringing her wonderful energy and musical magic to both classrooms. Every child, from the youngest in the junior room to the oldest in the senior room, had a chance to explore music in a fun and exciting way. With songs, chants, and a wide range of instruments, the children were encouraged to listen, move, sing, and play. A big highlight for the senior room this year was learning the ukulele. With Zane’s guidance, their skills grew and grew – and during the final session, it was clear to everyone just how much they had learned. From simple strums to full songs, their progress was amazing to see (and hear!). To finish the programme, we had a fantastic musical performance. The school hall was full of smiling faces and proud hearts as all the children came together to share what they had learned. It was a colourful mix of music and song that brought joy to teachers, families, and friends alike. Music is a language that brings people together – and this year, thanks to Zane and Music Generation Mayo, we all spoke it loud and clear! We are so thankful to Zane for her kindness, talent, and fun spirit, and to Music Generation Mayo for giving our children this wonderful opportunity to learn and grow through music. |
