Halloween Fun and Games!

23/10/2025

What a spooktacular day we had in school celebrating Halloween! The children had great fun dressing up in their costumes — witches, ghosts, superheroes, and all sorts of creative characters filled the classrooms and corridors. 🧙‍♀️🦸‍♂️🕸️

But the fun didn’t stop there! Everyone joined in a variety of traditional Halloween games that brought plenty of laughter and excitement:
The Fortune Teller – Each item revealed a different future:
💧 Water = Travel
💰 Coins = Wealth
✏️ Pencil = Teacher
🌱 Soil = Farmer
💍 Ring = Married
The children loved finding out their “fortunes”!
Pin the Tail on the Cat – A real test of aim and balance as everyone tried to pin the tail in just the right spot! 🐈
Blind Man’s Buff – Lots of giggles as the blindfolded player tried to find their friends by listening carefully! 👀
Snap Apple – A Halloween favourite! The children took turns trying to bite the swinging apples — not as easy as it looks! 🍎

It was a day full of fun, laughter, and great Halloween spirit. A big well done to all the children for their fantastic costumes and enthusiasm — what a wonderful way to finish before the midterm break! 🎃🧡

Halloween Safety Talk with Garda Karen

23/10/2025

We were delighted to welcome Garda Karen to our school today for a special visit all about Halloween safety. With Halloween just around the corner, Garda Karen spoke to the children about how to enjoy the celebrations safely and responsibly.

She reminded everyone how important it is to be mindful and careful while out trick-or-treating — to stay with an adult, be seen in the dark, and always be respectful of others. The children also learned about keeping pets safe and looking after their community during this exciting time of year. 🕸️🦇

Garda Karen answered many great questions and praised the children for their thoughtful ideas and good listening skills. It was a truly engaging and informative talk that helped everyone understand how to have a fun and safe Halloween celebration.

A big thank you to Garda Karen for visiting our school and sharing such important advice. We’re now ready for a safe and spooky Halloween! 🎃👻✨

Spooky Halloween Dioramas

20/10/2025

Last Friday, the children from 1st to 6th Class got creative in art as they designed and built their very own Halloween dioramas! 👻🕸️

This project really put their art and construction skills to the test. The children had to combine colouring, cutting, folding, and glueing to create a 3D Halloween scene that looked like it had come to life! Each diorama was filled with spooky characters, haunted houses, pumpkins, ghosts, and other imaginative details — no two were the same!

The activity was a brilliant way for pupils to practise fine motor skills, creativity, and patience, as each piece required careful planning and construction. It was lovely to see how proud everyone was of their finished work, and how much thought and care went into each tiny detail.

Our classroom is now filled with these fantastic Halloween scenes, adding plenty of spooky spirit and creativity to our school just in time for the season! 🎃✨

Thank You, Coach Cody and KlassKickz!

Over the past six weeks, our pupils have been taking part in fantastic soccer coaching sessions with Coach Cody from KlassKickz — and what a brilliant experience it has been!

Each Monday, the children looked forward to seeing Cody arrive with his big smile, endless energy, and exciting games planned for everyone. Through a mix of fun drills, skill challenges, and team games, the pupils learned so much about passing, dribbling, shooting, and working together.

Last Monday marked the final session of Cody’s term with us, and there were lots of sad faces as we said goodbye. The children have really enjoyed every minute of their time with him, and it has been wonderful to see how much they’ve improved in both confidence and ability on the pitch.

A huge thank you to Coach Cody and KlassKickz for their time, encouragement, and enthusiasm. You’ve inspired our pupils to stay active, keep practising, and — most importantly — to have fun while playing sport! ⚽👏

We hope to welcome you back to our school again soon! 🌟

Building and Comparing with LEGO and Blocks!

20/10/2025

Earlier in the week, the Junior Room had great fun learning about length and height during maths. Using LEGO and building blocks, the children explored important comparison words such as tall, taller, tallest and long, longer, longest. They also learned how to describe and compare wide and narrow structures.

Through hands-on play and teamwork, the children worked in small groups to design and build towers, bridges, and other creative structures. Once their constructions were complete, they compared their creations, using mathematical language to describe what they saw. “My tower is taller than yours!” and “This bridge is the longest!” could be heard all around the room.

This activity helped the children to develop their understanding of measurement, while also encouraging cooperation, problem-solving, and communication. They quickly discovered that by adding or removing blocks, they could change the height or length — an exciting way to see maths come to life!

Learning through play makes maths fun, meaningful, and memorable — and the smiles and laughter during our LEGO session proved just that! 🌟🧱
