The children carried out a fun investigation to find out which materials were best at soaking up water. They made predictions, tested different materials, and carefully observed what happened when water was added.
Some materials absorbed lots of water and became wet very quickly, while others did not soak up the water at all. Through their investigation, the children learned that absorbent materials take in water, while non-absorbent materials keep water on the surface.
There was great excitement as the children compared the results and discussed which materials would be useful for different jobs around the home and school. They discovered why towels are made from absorbent materials and why items such as plastic raincoats need to be non-absorbent.
It was a fantastic hands-on science lesson that encouraged curiosity, observation, and problem-solving. The Junior Room did a wonderful job investigating and thinking like real scientists! 💧✨👩🔬👨🔬
