Using black paper and chalk, the children experimented with blending bright colours like green, blue, purple, and yellow to create the glowing sky effect of the aurora borealis. They practised soft strokes, smudging, and layering colours to make the lights look like they were dancing across the night sky.
The black background helped the colours really pop, and the children loved watching their pictures come to life as they mixed and blended. Some even added extra details like stars and silhouettes to complete their scenes.
This activity was a wonderful way to develop fine motor skills, creativity, and confidence while learning new art techniques. Our walls are now glowing with these stunning night skies — a truly magical display of the children’s hard work!
