The children followed each step of the recipe carefully, learning that cooking is a wonderful way to explore science in everyday life. As they worked, they discovered what happens when chocolate is heated and how it changes from a solid to a liquid through melting. They watched with great excitement as the chocolate softened and became smooth enough to mix with the Rice Krispies.
Once the mixture was ready, the children carefully spooned it into bun cases and then observed another scientific change as the buns began cooling and setting. Through this hands-on activity, the children learned about heating, melting, and cooling while also practising important skills such as following instructions, measuring, mixing, and taking turns.
Of course, the best part came at the end when everyone got to enjoy their delicious creations! 😋
It was a fantastic activity that combined science, maths, and practical life skills in a fun and memorable way. The Junior Room certainly enjoyed being scientists and chefs for the day! 🍫✨👩🔬👨🔬
