We had a lovely celebration of World Book Day in our school with a special paired reading session. The older pupils teamed up with the younger children to read together and share their favourite books.
It was wonderful to see the older children helping and encouraging the younger readers, patiently reading with them, turning pages together, and chatting about the stories. The younger pupils really enjoyed having their own reading partner and listening to the exciting books being shared.
Paired reading is a great way to build confidence, fluency, and a love of reading, while also strengthening friendships across the classes. The room was filled with smiles, quiet concentration, and the happy sound of stories being told.
