Thursday's Active Schools activities were thoroughly enjoyed by both pupils and teachers with very competitive soccer games, basketball matches and various races after lunch. Although the teachers put in a huge effort throughout the pupils proved too strong and came out on top in most contests. Teachers have vowed to train hard and come back much stronger next year!
Wednesday of Active Schools Week began brilliantly with our biggest turn-out by far for our Park & Stride. We even had two dogs for company on our walk to school! Many thanks to all who took part, your support is greatly appreciated. Have a look at the cutest canines below!
After one of the most exciting and entertaining league finals in years (Maolíosa's team just got the better of Daniel's in an absolute thriller), we all went for a very enjoyable walk over the road at the side of the school. Pupils, teachers and a large number of parents hit the road shortly after 1pm. There was lots of chatting along the way and thankfully the weather was beautiful throughout. Everyone enjoyed the walk and nobody got lost or left behind which is a always a bonus! Below are just a few photos of the walk. Once again many thanks to all the parents that joined us for our super Walking Wednesday.
The weather was incredible on Tuesday and we began with a delightful Park & Stride in the morning. Thanks again to everyone that took part but special mention must go to our two third class cyclists, Mia and Clíona, who made an extra effort to be active before school by bringing their bikes. Don't forget, park & stride is happening everyday this week at 9:05am and parents are welcome to join us. Check out the photos below!
Our 'ten at 10 to' exercise slots were great fun and everyone took a really active part. Thanks to the parents that joined in for our 10 to 3 slot. Mr Collins took on the role of dj for an open-air disco on the field before lunch. A big thank you to Mr McGuire for organising all the music for the week. We have lots of photos below showing everyone having a fun and energetic time.
See you all at 9:05am on Wednesday for park & stride
Our Active Schools Week got off to a great start on Monday June 19th. There was a large turn-out of pupils and adults at the graveyard for our Park & Stride at 9:05am. The lovely morning allowed for a very enjoyable walk to the school. With the weather tomorrow morning promising to be even nicer we hope to have an even bigger crowd walking. Don't forget the hi-vis jackets and remember you have to make hay while the sun shines so lets get out and make the most of the good weather.
We also had three very enjoyable discos during the day where we danced to classics such as the Locomotion, Macarena, Rock the Boat, Shoe the Donkey, the Hokey Pokey and of course Hit the Diff. Staff and pupils were more than willing to show off their dance floor moves and it certainly was an active afternoon! Some of the moves were a bit strange but then again Mr Haran does have two left feet! It was great to see everyone so involved and enjoying themselves. You can see some dance floor photos below.
Tomorrow is 'Ten at 10 to' Tuesday when we will be doing 10 minutes of exercise at 10 to the hour each hour. And remember, parents are invited to join us for our 10 to 3 slot! The exercise will take place in the yard so please make sure you put on sun cream in the morning before school.
Remember, Park & Stride each morning this week at 9:05am!
