Continuing with our work on comprehension and reading in the middle room today the children worked on their new Literacy Box comprehension activities, to promote their comprehension skills across the curriculum. Another fantastic resource to add to the collection.

Nearing the end of our "Magnetic Car" construction activity as part of our Discover Primary Science Programme. We have looked at magnets and the forces of push and pull and how they are used in the world around us. After this introduction the children then went on to design a cardboard constructed car that could hold a magnet to see of it can be pushed and pulled using only magnetic force. In their groups the children designed and made their cardboard constructions and we will be testing these nest week. Stay tuned for more!
The Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) aims to give pupils the opportunity to experience practical, real life business learning where pupils start a business in the classroom. The programme nurtures creativity, independence and problem solving among pupils of all abilities.
As part of the programme a local entrepreneur is invited to share their story and to advise pupils about how to ensure the Junior Entrepreneur Project is a success. Today, entrepreneur Donal Byrne of the Big Red Barn gave a presentation to the senior room with business advice such as goal setting, staying positive, surrounding yourself with positivity and keeping an eye on the solution rather than the problem. This advice will propel the pupils forward as they prepare to meet the Dragons with their group projects next week. Donal has won many awards, most recently Bank of Ireland Startup Business Award. He has always given generously of his time and has been a Dragon for Cloonlyon NS JEP in previous years. We would like to wish Donal and The Big Red Barn continued success and thank him for supporting the Junior Entrepreneur. |
