
Over the years, the school has won various awards in the environmental academic, as well as academic and the sporting areas.Some of the pictures below testify to the support the school has received from parents and pupils in caring for the schools appearance.
In 2000 Cloonlyon NS was the first school in Mayo to be awarded the European Green Schools Flag, an achievement it has repeated every 2 years since then, most recently in 2014. In 2000 also the school was awarded an ESB Environmental Award. Previously it had been awarded its first desktop PC by Mayo County Council for work on the school and its immediate environment.
In 2003 the school won a national award in the Building for the Future competition and received a prize of €12,000. In 2010 the school was awarded the title of Mayo's Best Kept School by Mayo County Council reflecting the care and thought put into the school environment. In 2011 the school received a prize of an interactive whiteboard from Sligo Supply Centre worth in the region of €4,000. The school has received a number of Science & Maths Awards. In 2013 the school was awarded its first Active Schools Flag
