The above wall hanging is a map of all the town-lands of pupils represented in Cloonlyon school in 2011. Each town-land is symbolised by an image relevant to that specific area. The layout of the map is imaginary as all the town-lands do not actually lie side by side.
The entire school took part in designing and making the wall hanging. Junior & Senior infants made the stones walls, First, Second & Third class made the fields, lakes and rivers, while Fourth, Fifth & Sixth class created the symbols. The resulting wall hanging gives us an insight into some important elements of the lifestyle of the area. The project was facilitated by local artist, Carmel Balfe.
