Last Friday 29th May the boys from 4th,5th and 6th class went to the Charlestown Gaelic pitch to play hurling. Our hurling trainer is called Adrian Hession. He trains a lot of the schools in Mayo.
In the competition we played against Kilkelly, Tavrane and Derrinabroc. We beat them all so we are through to the Mayo finals this Wednesday. We do not have any subs and we will be playing six-a-side.

Today 4th,5th and 6th class from our school went to the GMIT college in Castlebar. We went to present our herbal tea idea . At the presentation a man called Frank spoke to us about his business. His business is to buy in and sell electrical goods. He has three bases for his business. They are in Kiltimagh, Leeds and London.Every day his company makes 1 million euros.
After he finished talking the first school went up for their presentation. There were 17 schools. That is double the amount from last year. The ideas were all great. Charlestown NS had the idea to make spring smoothies, Kilmovee made cup coasters with pictures from their local community.Culmore school made cushions that fit school chairs.
We all had a packed lunch that we got from the college kitchen. It contained 1 sandwich a bottle of water crisps and buttons. We had 2 special guests Andy Moran and Donal Vaughan.I got both of their autographs. After that we went back to school .I really enjoyed the day
We went to the GMIT to present our Herbal Tea to other schools and Entrepreneurs. When I entered the building. I wasn’t so nervous, than when I was on a stage. We met other people and heard their ideas. My favourite idea was the cushion for you chair

We gave people who came past our stand a sample of herbal tea. Everyone was very respectful of our idea. They didn’t say something like this:
“What is herbal tea it sounds disgusting” or “ that herbal tea tastes nasty”
The people who tasted it was very nice and actually said things like “ The herbal tea is yummy” .Some people came back for more. We thought we wouldn’t sell anything but we sold 2 plants and 5 bags of mint tea. The money we got is 25 euro. Some teachers came around to look at our herbal tea.
Andy Moran and Donal Vaughan were there and I got their autograph. Donal Vaughan owns Vaughans shoes.A man called Frank Salmon, an Entrepreneur, owns a company called CMS. CMS is a company in Kiltimagh and in London and Laois. He was very interesting. He said he wasn’t so good in school but he really started studying in secondary school. He also said that you still have to study hard to become successful. He has 50-60 people working for him. I learned a lot today.. by Zoe
Dragon's Den

We were very lucky to have three great Dragons attend this event to help decide on the best idea and business to move forward in the production stage.
The Dragon's were:
Lisa Finn - Junior Entrepreneur Programme co-ordinator. Lisa also works in CMS Distributor in Kiltimagh which an award-winning, value-added distributor of data storage, networking and IT infrastructure products and services. Providing support to resellers, retailers and consultants from multi-nationals to smaller, local IT companies.
Donal Byrne - Entrepreneur, owner of the Big Red Barn & Little white Chapel. Donal has previously appeared on Dragon's Den to great success and his product is in use throughout Ireland.
Seamus Birmingham - Entrepreneur, owner of a Kitchen manufacturing company here in Charlestown, where Seamus has lived and worked all his life
Our Dragons were then presented with four business ideas from the children in the senior room. The businesses which the children came up with were: Chocolate Eggs, Wooden Money-boxes, Herbal Tea and Selfie T-shirts.
The Dragons were very impressed with each of the pitches and the work the children had put into their ideas. After each presentation the Dragons gave some recommendations to each group on where they could improve their idea. After long deliberations the Dragons decided to go with the Herbal Tea business.
All the children involved have learned so much from this experience and also from the real life Entrepreneurs which they met today.
