This morning the children of the Middle Room enjoyed an extra special "second" breakfast as part of our annual Cheerios Breakfast Morning. Massive thanks to all the children and families who gladly donated to this wonderful cause. Thanks again to the parents who helped out with everthing this morning

We are delighted to announce that our school website has been chosen as the Scoilnet Start Site for October. This is a great achievement and credit to the hard work that pupils and teachers alike do for our school.
Last Spring a decision was made to begin growing vegetables in the school’s garden area. Martin Connor of the ABC of Gardening from Castlebar came on board to offer his help and expertise. Over a number of weeks and in spite of the poor weather conditions 10 different vegetables were planted in the growing area. Rich, well rotted farmyard manure from the area helped the process greatly- special thanks to those helpful suppliers. By the end of the school year the garden was well established with a substantial supply of lettuce, rocket and spring onions quickly available. Some nasturtiums and sunflowers were planted with great success. Now that Autumn has arrived the harvest has been bountiful and includes cabbage, onions, beetroot, leeks, parsnips, spinach, carrots and even some oats that arrived by air from where we don’t know. Children have been able to bring home some of the vegetables and hopefully will get to taste more in the near future. Martin has been back this year to review the harvest and prepare for the coming years planting. |
