A very warm welcome back to all and we hope you thoroughly enjoyed the warm summer break. We would like to especially welcome our new junior infants who joined Cloonlyon NS for their first day of school today. Our new junior infants greeted their teachers with big smiles eager to get down to work. We wish the junior infants many happy years filled with learning and fun.

Today Sunday 26th August 2018 was a day to remember for the pupils of Cloonlyon NS, and the other three schools in the parish of Charlestown, at Ireland West Airport, Knock. They were privileged to get up close and personal with Pope Francis on his arrival at the airport.
Parents should be very pleased at how their children conducted themselves in front of the world media. Radio, television and newspaper reporters interviewed a good number of them before and after the arrival of Pope Francis. They spoke so well without prompting or coaching. As Pope Francis moved along the barriers he took time to engage with the children, to ask their names, to bless them and their rosary beads. He also asked, on more than one occasion, that they pray for him. It was an awesome event and one that hopefully the children will remember and treasure all their lives. Thanks to all who helped make this day happen. |
