The Children of Cloonlyon National School are putting on a production of the play "WITNESSES" this Thursday, the 15th December at 7pm in Bushfield Church. All are welcome to attend this wonderful show.
Yesterday in school a woman named Mairin came in, she was very kind and happy to make soup with us. She had a few pupils to help her to bring in some equipment. One group was called the choppers because they got to chop everything up. Everybody got a job. A lot of us were peeling. She sang us a song that was very nice to hear. We put a lot of vegetables in the soup. When they were chopping the onions they all started to shed a tear. When the soup was done, we gave some to the Infant. They liked it but not all of them had some. When we got the soup a lot of us kept going up for more.
Yesterday I learned that a variety of vegetables in soup can be really nice. I also learned that when you chop onions your eyes start to sting and tear. Mairin taught us a nice song about nature, and why we depend on nature. I learned that 99.9% of bacteria are good but we usually think that bacteria are bad. The soup was super yummy thanks to Mairin. First we washed the vegetables then we peeled them. After that we chopped them and put them in the pot to cook. The vegetables were carrots, onions, cabbage, potatoes, leeks, and celery. When we were chopping the onions everyone started crying. We sang a song about food while we were waiting for it to cook. Finally it was cooked and most of us had about 3 bowls. It was delicious. Yesterday Mairin talked about the earth and the stars and about where the first humans came from. We learnt a song about vegetables and other things. I didn’t think there was that much to do when you make soup. It was very easy to make really. It was delicious! We learned about other things, Mairin visited over 100 schools in Mayo She said only 3 of the schools out af all of them had their own vegetables. Mairin said to be kind to ‘pests’ because they are only trying to get food for themselves. Yesterday in school a woman named Mairin came in, she was very kind and happy to make soup with us.
