29/2/2024

Excitement is brewing as our talented Art Committee continues to breathe new life into the shelter at Cloonlyon NS through their mesmerising mural project. Over the past few weeks, our dedicated artists have been hard at work, transforming the once blank canvas into a vibrant tapestry of Irish culture and heritage.

From Blank Canvas to Blank Slate: The journey began with the meticulous preparation of the shelter walls, as the Art Committee cleared out clutter and applied a pristine base coat of white. With the canvas primed and ready, the stage was set for creativity to flourish.

Sketches of Saints and Swashbucklers: This week, our talented artists have begun to breathe life into the mural with their intricate sketches. Two iconic Irish saints have emerged on the walls, their serene visages capturing the essence of Ireland's spiritual heritage. Additionally, a legendary female Irish pirate has made her mark, adding a dash of adventure and intrigue to the scene.

Can You Guess the Names?: As we unveil these captivating characters, we invite you to guess the names of the Irish saints and the famous female pirate. Their stories are woven into the fabric of Irish history and mythology, and their presence on our shelter mural pays homage to their enduring legacy.

More to Come: But the journey doesn't end here! Our Art Committee has ambitious plans to populate the mural with even more characters from Irish mythology, each adding their own unique flavour to the tapestry of our shelter. So stay tuned for more updates as our mural continues to evolve and enchant.

Unlocking the Magic: As the mural takes shape, we invite you to follow along on our artistic journey and witness the transformation of our shelter into a vibrant celebration of Irish culture and heritage. Together, let's embrace the beauty and wonder of art as we weave new stories and memories within the walls of Cloonlyon NS.

Pancake Tuesday, a beloved tradition heralding the arrival of Lent, filled the air with excitement and anticipation at Cloonlyon NS this year. Thanks to the gracious support of our dedicated Parents Association, our students were treated to a delectable pancake feast adorned with an array of tantalizing toppings.

🍓 Toppings Galore: From the vibrant sweetness of strawberries and blueberries to the comforting richness of bananas, maple syrup, and honey, our students indulged in a symphony of flavours. Each pancake, lovingly prepared and garnished to perfection, was a delightful treat for the senses.

🥞 A Sweet Start to Lent: As we bid farewell to indulgence and welcome the introspective journey of Lent, Pancake Tuesday served as a joyful prelude. It provided our students with a moment of communal joy and gratitude, setting the tone for a season of reflection and renewal.

👩‍🍳 Gratitude to the Parents Association: We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Parents Association for their unwavering support in making Pancake Tuesday a resounding success. Their generosity and dedication not only filled our bellies but also warmed our hearts, reminding us of the spirit of giving and community that defines Cloonlyon NS.

🍽️ Service with a Smile: Special appreciation goes to our 6th class pupils, who exemplified the spirit of service by cutting up the fruit and serving their fellow students before enjoying their own pancakes. Their selflessness and kindness are a shining example for us all.

As we reflect on the joy and camaraderie shared during Pancake Tuesday, let us carry that spirit of gratitude and fellowship with us throughout the Lenten season. Together, may we continue to nourish our hearts and souls as we journey forward as a united Cloonlyon NS family.

Empowering Digital Citizens: Cloonlyon NS Joins Web Wise Safer Internet Day!
Yesterday, we proudly joined millions of voices around the globe in celebrating Safer Internet Day—a day dedicated to promoting digital literacy, online safety, and respect in our digital communities. At Cloonlyon NS, we recognise the importance of fostering a culture of responsibility and kindness in the digital sphere, and we're thrilled to be part of this global movement.

Through engaging activities and thought-provoking discussions, our students are delving into the concept of digital citizenship. From understanding the importance of safeguarding personal information to promoting positive online interactions, we're empowering our young learners to navigate the digital world with confidence and integrity.

Central to our participation in Web Wise Safer Internet Day is the emphasis on respect and kindness online. We're reinforcing the idea that behind every screen is a real person with thoughts, feelings, and experiences. By treating others with empathy and compassion, we create safer, more inclusive online communities for all.

In today's digital age, being web-wise is essential. Through interactive workshops and educational resources, we're equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to stay safe online. From identifying and addressing cyberbullying to discerning between credible and misleading information, we're arming our students with the tools to navigate the digital landscape responsibly.
