Hats off to two Cloonlyon NS pupils, Beth and Katie, whose fundraising efforts are helping support two worthy charities. Beth collected €150 for Temple Street Children’s Hospital Foundation through the sale of her books and toys in school as well as donations from her family. Katie raised €126 from the sale of SLIME to her school friends for Hand in Hand, a charity that provides support to families of children with cancer.
Niall Dunne of Mayo Mental Health recently gave a presentation to the parents of Cloonlyon NS. Niall reminded us that we all have mental health and that sometimes something small can become unbearable if we don’t know how to deal with it. Niall wants to see every door in Mayo open to Mental Health. His informative talk was well received ahead of the raising of the Amber Flag for Mental Health Awareness .Cloonlyon NS being one of only two national schools in Mayo to be the very first to receive this acknowledgement of dedication to awareness around Mental Health. It was a timely presentation as the senior pupils of Cloonlyon NS recently took part in the annual Mayo Mental Health Association poster competition which seeks to create an awareness of positive mental health through the medium of art. The themes of minding yourself/happiness being especially relevant for pupils as they approach adolescence when they encounter many changes and challenges. Thank you to Niall Dunne of Mayo Mental Health. http://www.mayomha.ie/mayomentalhealth |
