3rd & 4th Futsal Competition

On Wednesday the boys and girls of 3rd & 4th class took part in the East Mayo Futsal competition held in the Charlestown Complex.

The boys and girls both came out eventual winners after progressing from two tough groups with both finals being hotly contested. The boys progressed through their group with victories over St. Attracta's, Kilmovee and Straide NS. They played Craggagh NS in the final. A very close affair the boys of Cloonlyon NS pulled away in the second half to come out on top.

The girls played Carramore and Craggagh NS in their group, progressing to the final where they faced off against a tough Straide Side. With momentum swinging from side to side it wasn't until late in the game where the girls pulled it from the fire with two late goals.

With a fantastic day had by all children, teachers and schools a massive thanks has to go to Paul Byrne of FAI Mayo for organising the event.

Cumann na mBunscol May 2016

Yesterday boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class took part in the local area Cumann na mBunscol competition held in Fr O'Hara Park, Charlestown. The schools involved in the competition were Cloonlyon NS, Carracastle NS, Brusna NS and Kilmovee NS.

In the boys competition we played Kilmovee in the semi-final but were very unlucky hitting the crossbar twice and missing some key scores. It was a fast paced game with Kilmovee coming out the eventual winners and progressing through to the finals.

Again in the girls competition we faced off against a very strong Kilmovee team. The girls put in a great effort but were unable to progress through to the final.

Both teams took part in the 3rd and 4th place playoff games before the finals were played with both boys and girls facing off against Brusna NS. Thankfully the weather held up and everyone got to participate and enjoyed the day.

Connacht Spikeball Competition 2016

Yesterday our Mixed Spikeball team took part in the Connacht Finals, which were held in Ardscoil Mhuire Secondary School in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

There were seven teams in the mixed competition and we had to play 6 games. Points were 1 point for a loss, points for a draw and 3 points for a win. the top four teams in the group progressed to the semi-finals and the two finals would go on to the National Finals.

Spikeball Local Blitz

On Friday the 12th of February our Fifth and Sixth Class pupils took place in a local Spikeball Blitz held in the CBD Sports Complex Charlestown. We entered three teams into this competition, two mixed teams ( St Patrick's 1 & 2) and one girls team (St Patrick's Girls).

There was a fantastic turn out by the local area schools with St Attracta's NS Charlestown, Scoil Íosa NS Carracastle, Scoil Mhuire NS Brusna, Tavneena National School and Kilmovee National School all taking part.

Our mixed teams had mixed fortunes with both winning and losing some closely contested matches. Our Girls team showed some great skills to progress through to the Final where they were narrowly defeated by St Attracta's of Charlestown.

Congratulations to all winning teams and a massive thank you to the TY's of St Joseph's Community College for their help in training teams and running this competition which all of our children thoroughly enjoyed.
