their Green Schools Travel Flag. Lukasz Krzywon, the An Taisce Green Schools
Travel Officer, spent the day with the pupils. Almost all of the pupils from 3rd
Class onwards brought their bikes to school. They had demonstrations about
looking after their bikes followed by practical workshops focusing on maintaining and repairing their bikes using various tools and equipment. Thanks to the lovely
weather, pupils also got the chance to test their bikes out!
Later, the pupils watched ‘Before the Flood’, a documentary about the effects
of Climate Change and what we could and should be doing to reduce our
dependence on fossil fuels and plastics. The Question and Answer session
following this really saw the pupils engage and debate with the issues. The day
finished with pupils making a ‘Climate Change Pledge’ to undertake actions
that will have a positive effect on the environment, themselves, their families
and the community.
Many, many thanks to Lukasz for making our Day of Action such a special and
enriching experience. Mrs. Michaels and The Green Schools Committee worked very hard in the run up to our Day of Action and also, many thanks to all of the pupils for their enthusiasm and interest in making our world a better place.
