Last Friday the 29th of March, 5th and 6th class participated in the East Mayo Small Schools section of the SPAR/FAI Primary 5 a side competition in Knock.
The girls were split into two teams, Cloonlyon 1 and Cloonlyon 2. Cloonlyon 1 progressed to the semi finals having beat Aughamore NS and Tavrane NS in the first round. Cloonlyon 2 also progressed to the semi finals having beat St. Colmans NS and Ballindine NS in the first round. Both Cloonlyon 1 and 2 lost the semi finals against two very skilled teams, Aughamore NS and Meelickmore NS.
The boys won one game in the first round against Facefield NS and lost one game against the Gaelscoil. They progressed to the semi finals after defeating Tooreen NS in the quarter finals but unfortunately lost to the Gaelscoil in the semi final.
The effort all three teams put in on the day was admirable and they have represented their school proudly. Congratulations to those who qualified for the county finals and well done again to 5th and 6th.
