Today began with a reflection on our previous days with Ciara and our plan of action for the day. The first workshop focused on designing the word Cloonlyon to use as our focus for our shed design. The children utilized local features and the strengths of the school to design their abstract lettering. Once completed the second workshop focused on creating stencils for the lettering of our school names and the silhouettes of our movement pieces from day 1.
As a group, the students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th then began cleaning the shed. They then painted on Polybond to seal the walls. Once completed a base coat of paint was applied. Due to time constraints, the project was not completed on Ciaras last day but as a school we will continue our artist journey over the coming weeks to complete our shed project.
Ciara has promised to come back to for a visit and we can't wait for her to see the completed project. The Teacher-Artist in Partnership Programme has been a wonderful opportunity for the students to broaden their thinking, artistic abilities, to develop creative practices and respond to their surroundings via art. We can not thank Ciara enough for helping us on our artist journey and we can't wait for you to see the finished product!
