For more years than most people can remember, music has been taught and played in Cloonlyon NS. Over the years different instruments such as glockenspiels, guitars and accordions have been added to the the schools instrument bank.
Since January the pupils in the senior room have been bringing home ukuleles as they came to terms with the chords for this new four stringed instrument. Finally last Friday at assembly it was time for the first five brave musicians to take to the stage and lead the sing song. The reaction from the pupils and teachers was one of delight and even mild amazement. Over the next few weeks all the class will have their opportunity for their few minutes of fame.
